Abstract

The paper introduces the concept of meaning generating capacity (MC) of neural nets, i.e. a measure of information processing, depending on the size of basins of attraction. It can be shown that there is a significant relation between the variance values of the weight matrix of a network and its MC-values. By the concept of MC network characteristics like robustness and generalizing capability can be explained.
