# Stochastic Optimization Model of Fuel Procurement, Transportation and Storage for Coal-Fired Thermal Plants in Hydrothermal Systems

#### Abstract

This work presents an optimal strategy of coal procurement for thermal plants, including transportation and storage in order to guarantee continuous supply of the fuel. The stochastic programming model developed takes into account the uncertainty associated with inflows in a hydrothermal system and other complex logistics and commercial aspects related to the international coal market. Different study cases are analysed and the results are presented through comparisons of different strategies applied to different scenarios of dispatch.
