Automatic Constructing OWL Ontology from Relational Database Schema

Abstract

In this paper we present a new tool, called DB_DOOWL, for creating domain ontology from relational database schema (RDBS). In contrast with existing transformation approaches, we propose a generic solution based on automatic instantiation of a specified meta-ontology. This later is an owl ontology which describes any database structure. A prototype of our proposed tool is im-plemented based on Jena in Java in order to demonstrate its feasibility.
