Automatic Registration Method for Leather Section Image using SIFT and Wavelet Transform

Abstract

Image registration is one of the hot topics of image processing, which has been widely concerned by researchers. However, most existing image registration methods are inefficient and inaccuracy. Thus, this paper proposes an efficient method that uses multi-resolution wavelet transform to process the original images. This method utilizes decomposition and reconstruction of two-layered wavelet to eliminate the error matching points effectively. Experimental results show that this method has a better robustness, which can not only get more key points but also improve the correct matching rate greatly.
