Abstract

Indonesia is an agrarian state, but ironically, its food tenacity index is slow. Global Food Security Index (GFSI) mentioned that Indonesia is in the 71st position out of 113 states. This research analyses the food security policy, particularly in supporting village development. The data were collected from interviews, observation, and document study. The techniques of analysing data were content and interactive analyses. The results show that village development is highly affected by its available resources (particularly human/society). Food security encourages the village development. Food security policy focuses on food availability, affordability, and consumption and security. The policy is in three levels of government (central, provincial, and regency). However, inter-government policy seem less coordinated. The management of food security - particularly in supporting village development – has not been a comprehensive policy. The implication is that there should be synergic public policy management to collectively solve the problem of food security.
