Abstract

Pneumonia is an acute infection of the respiratory tract that specifically affects the lungs. In Sawahlunto city, the case of Pneumonia had increased from 2014 rised from 42 to 87 cases until 2015. The aim of this research was to analyze children Pneumonia vulnerability zone based on house physical determinant factors using geographical information system approach in Sawahlunto. A case-control study was conducted there. Using 33 sample cases of mothers who had children diagnosed with Pneumonia aged 12-60 months taken by simple random sampling and 33 controls with purposive random sampling. Data were analyzed with univariate, bivariate, multivariate, and spatial analysis. The results showed that the variables associated with the incidence of pneumonia (p value <0.05) were the Type of Wall and Type of Roof. The most vulnerable area was Barangin district. The most dominant risk factor for the incidence was the Type of Roof. It was suggested that the health office, Puskesmas, and community can work together to observe the environmental condition of the houses for the improvement quality and condition of the houses, with the improvement of Type of Roof and the House Wall so that it fulfilled the healthy housing requirement, especially in the Barangin district
