Abstract

The purposes of this study were to determine the concentration of benzene exposure, the value of Risk Quotient (RQ), Immunoglobulin A (IgA), and to analyze the risk level of RQ with IgA workers. The research method was a cross-sectional study, with a total of 20 respondents. The independent variable studied was risk characteristic non-carcinogenic (Risk Quotient/RQ), while the dependent variable was an Immunoglobulin A (IgA) worker. Analysis of the relationship between Risk Quotient (RQ) and Immunoglobulin A (IgA) was carried out using the statistic method, Prevalence Risk (PR). The results showed that the benzene concentration (C) in the working environment was 25% above the threshold value (TLV=1,59 mg/m3). The value of non-carcinogenic risk characteristics of workers from benzene exposure was balanced between safe (RQ£1) and unsafe (RQ>1), i.e. 50% each. Normal immunoglobulin A (IgA) (2-3 mg/ml) were 40%, while abnormal were 60%. Respondents with the unsafe non-carcinogenic health risk of (RQ>1) had 1.4 times more abnormal IgA in their blood, compared to those who had a safe RQ (RQ£1). A recommendation to normalize IgA levels was by consuming food with the CYP2E1 enzyme which is contained in beef liver and salmon
