Abstract

In this paper, a micropayment scheme with flexible coin denomination mintage is proposed. This varying denomination approach might be more reasonable for most micropayment applications. Furthermore, the proposed scheme improves extensively the computational performance of both the customer as well as the merchant. Storage cost of the customer is exactly the same as in the original PayWord micropayment scheme and is thus applicable to implementations on small portable devices, e.g., smart card.
