Abstract:
The received signal strength indicator (RSSI) which can be obtained during wireless communication, depending on communication distance, and is used to estimate the distance between a sender and receiver. We focus on the RSSI to determine whether a mobile node is approaching or departing from a target node (T N). To determine approach or departure, we implement the protection step number (PSN) as a protection feature that determines approach or departure when RSSI varies N times of the PSN in a row. N is designed according to RSSI deviation, and the value is computed statistically. In this paper, we demonstrate a method for approaching a TN based on RSSI with and without the proposed PSN.
