Abstract:
Revolver-head gantry machines are nowadays very popular because of their flexibility, accuracy and high enough placement speed. In the optimization of this machine type the selection of nozzles into the placement head, the order of the component reels in feeder slots, and the pick-up and placement sequences have to be considered.
In this article, it is assumed that the selection of nozzles and the pick-up and placement sequences are fixed and the feeder assigment is to be solved. The problem statement is formed by analysing the operation properties of a real placement machine. Contrarily to previous literature dealing with this problem, in this work each component can be picked up only by a certain type of nozzle. Finally, four algorithms for solving the problem are proposed and tested. In the experimental tests with realistic data the algorithms performed equally.
