Abstract:
The Unified Modeling Language (UML) has merged as a de-facto standard for modeling especially information systems. However, in spite of its wide spread usage, UML still lacks support for verification methods and tools. Several researches proposed verification methods for certain UML diagrams, however, none of the proposed methods covers all of the UML diagrams, which are semantically overlapping in any system model.
In this paper, we propose a modular verification method for UML models. The proposed method uses the implicit (semantic) and explicit (syntactic) relations among all the diagrams of a UML model. The implicit inter-diagram relations are deduced from the UP design process. In this paper, we overview the proposed method and illustrate its feasibility through an information system example.
