Abstract: This paper describes a monitoring system prototype dedicated to fall prevention for elderly. Our system designed in collaboration with physicians, aims at assessing the risk that a fall occurs, relying on the signature of the walk. The signature is defined as a set of relevant characteristics, computed from the observation through a video camera of the behavior at home of the elderly and can be viewed as a self reference for the telecared person. We model the deviation of this signature to determine an increase of the fall risk.
