Abstract:
Focused on new HMI for vehicles, this paper explains the methodology followed by Tecnalia to provide an evaluation of the context, based on sensors data, in order to achieve the optimum usability and ubiquity levels at any given moment, and finally to optimize the driving task from the safety point of view. The paper is divided into three sections. Firstly, there is an introduction in which the main concepts, multimodality and Ambient intelligence, are explained (section 1), and this is followed by the two projects related to the work shown here (section 2). In section 3 we will go on to describe the methodology used to obtain an evaluation of the context, as is necessary for a car HMI with multimodal capabilities. Finally, a particular “Context evaluator” is displayed in order to illustrate the methodology and report the work carried out.
