Abstract:
This study aims to propose a reflective ePortfolio approach and examine its effects on the outcomes of students’ learning experience in their overseas exchange studies, the area that has been under-researched to date. Based on the engagement theory, we proposed a research model and hypotheses to test the effectiveness of our proposed ePortfolio approach (in terms of students’ affective engagement, cognitive engagement and behavioural engagement via the use of the reflective ePortfolio system) on outcomes of student overseas exchange learning experience (in terms of satisfaction with exchange experience, satisfaction with ePortfolio, perceived achievement in learning, and actual achievement in learning). The findings of this study provide potentially important practical implications for educators, students and designers of ePortfolio on the use of ePortfolio for student exchange.
