Abstract:
This paper proposes UPCITY, a Service-Oriented Architecture for eGovernment. UPCITY tracks the stages of a local community problem-solving workflow on an interactive map, by using a zoomable user interface, as well as a timeline to add a temporal dimension to data present in the system. Usability related features, as well as interoperability with popular social networks, are used to encourage citizen participation. We provide an extensible platform by means of a flexible plug-in system, exemplified by an epidemic tracker.
