Abstract:
E-commerce presents several advantages in relation to traditional retail, which reflects a better competitive advantage. Open source tools have the main advantage of not increasing costs for companies although it is necessary to choose an appropriate tool to meet their specific needs. For a more precise evaluation of open source e-commerce tools, the OSSpal assessment methodology was applied, which combines quantitative and qualitative evaluation measures. By using the OSSpal methodology, this paper compares three of the top e-commerce tools: Magento, OpenCart, and PrestaShop.
