
and corresponding inputs and outputs form. The
implemented methods are available and accessible
through the Internet. These may be implemented on
different programming languages and running on
different platforms. Such implementations are easily
accessible through the web service here presented
for solving scheduling problems, through the
execution of local or remotely available scheduling
methods. The system allows comparing different
solutions obtained by the execution of different
methods for a same scheduling problem, and to
choose the best solution found to solve the problem,
according to a given performance measure defined.
The XML based specification can be generated and
visualized by computers in appropriate and different
ways. An important issue is that the data
representation model is general, accommodating a
large variety of scheduling problems, which may
occur in different types of manufacturing
environments.
