THE QUEST FOR SELF-MODEL IN SELF-MANAGING NETWORKS

Abstract
Although autonomic networking has been discussed in related research activities in the last few years, there is neither a commonly accepted model nor a common understanding of the necessary components of an autonomic networking environment, which are also practically applicable. We present a simple model based on the notion of self that is perceived by human beings and deduce its components from the originating point which is the need for autonomic behavior. We also introduce three use cases that we implemented for solving different problems of IEEE 802.11e networks.
