Abstract
ALErT (Anatolian pLateau climatE and Tectonic hazards), is an EU funded initiative of 10 European academic and 5 industry partners in the fields of applied Earth sciences, natural hazard monitoring, knowledge transfer, and risk communication. Such a special context gives a unique opportunity to investigate application of the Semantic Web technologies to geospatial data in a distributed interdisciplinary environment. In this paper we describe our experience, in particular— managing (encoding, sharing, searching) geospatial data with RDF and OWL and reasoning with mixed semantic, spatial quantitative and qualitative information.
