socio-material perspective. Our initial definition,
drawn from the literature, presented KM as “a
dynamic and continuous set of processes and
practices embedded in individuals, as well as in
groups and infrastructure” (Alavi and Leidner, 2001).
However, as our study has shown, attention to the
detail of coordination practices suggests that this
definition may conceal a multitude of socio-material
views that can extend understanding about how
coordination can support knowledge transfer,
enhancing heritage management projects. Further
research exploring such socio-material views may
better address the interplay between coordination and
knowledge transfer process.
