Acousto-optic Spectrum Analyzer - The New Type of Optoelectronic Device

Abstract
The new optoelectronic system combining calcium molybdate collinear acousto-optic cell and positive electronic feedback is proposed and examined both experimentally and theoretically. The feedback signal is formed at the cell output due to the optical heterodyning effect with the use of an unconventional regime of collinear cell operation. It is shown that the feedback circuit parameters enable controlling spectral characteristics of the acousto-optic cell, resulting in enhancing the maximal spectral resolution and the accuracy of optical wavelength determination. This system may be treated as the optical radiation spectrum analyzer, as the spectrum of electric signal in the feedback circuit is related with the light spectrum on the system input.
