Abstract
Consumer demand for instant public transport has created new modes of transportation, such as Internet-based motorcycle taxi. The rapid growth of online transportation raises the question of whether it should be regulated to protect commuters and the public transport sector. This study addresses this issue based on the experience in Surakarta where internet-based public transportation is still in its infancy. This quantitative study uses a non-random sample of students at Universitas Sebelas Maret in Surakarta. Analysis of data was done by using Smart PLS-Sem. The variables used were Perceived Usefulness (PU), Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU) and Risk Perception (PR) from technology acceptance model (TAM) to see the reasons for using the internet-based public transport. From the p-values, it can be seen that PEOU and PR significantly influence the intention to use. The results indicate that most Solo citizen enjoy and need internet-based public transport. Special regulation must be in place to accommodate such needs.
