Abstract
The Syrian civil war and consequent humanitarian crisis has turned Syria into a failed state. People are suffering of trauma and starvation. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has stepped in to provide assistance to the victims. This paper analyzes how MSF’s humanitarian efforts in Syria 2011-2015. All the members of MSF understand they will face many risks and dangers during the humanitarian mission (altruism and voluntarism) guided by the principles of humanity, impartiality, neutrality, and operational independence. This research uses a descriptive-qualitative method to examine the Syria as a failed state, the government’s and the people’s views of MSF’s humanitarian actions, and the barriers that MSF faces in carrying out their mission.
