Abstract
West Kalimantan Province shares 996 kilometers of border with Sarawak-Malaysia. But the level of development of West Kalimantan border area lags behind its neighbor, Malaysia. This condition stands to threaten Indonesia’s national security. Recognizing the serious situation, the Government of Indonesia under Jokowi Presidency has sought to strengthen the protection of its borders through the development of strategic policies. Usingdescriptive qualitative method, this paperdiscusses the strategy of government policy in border areas and evaluates its implementation as well as identifies possible steps to strengthen itsnational security.
