Abstract

Background: Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis is an infection caused by Herpes simplex virus (HSV) type I characterized by lesions in the form of erosion to ulcer on orolabialis until orofarynx and rare in adults. The virus can be transmitted through direct contact with lesion or oral secretion of an infected individual, and it can be reactivated at any time according to the patient`s condition and latent in the nerve tissue and ganglion. This is a kind of self limiting disease, but can cause discomfort in the mouth, fever, lymphadenopathy, difficulty eating and drinking. Purpose: Provide information on the handling of cases of primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis happens to a fisherman in the coastal marine Suramadu. Case: A 31-year-old man felt his body fever, chills, dizziness. and muscle pain after returning from the sea for five days and then given antibiotics and fever by a midwife but no changes and appears much ulcers in the mouth making it difficult to swallow. Case Management: Provision of antiviral drugs effective against HSV 1 to inhibit DNA synthesis that can inhibit the replication of the virus that is Acyclovir tablet, and accompanied by the provision of a mouthwash containing anti include also the provision of vitamins. On the 13th day after taking medicine regularly and follow education given patient recovers. Discussion: Taking anamnesis to get definitive diagnosis is most important part. The use of Acyclovir tablets as well as antiviral drugs and anti-inflammatory mouthwash is very effective in handling this case.
