Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to develop and design a comprehensive model for the development of social-capital-based ecotourism for strengthening the economy of the local community. This study used a design model-based research with the qualitative research methods. The results suggested that (a) the model for developing a social capital-based ecotourism should cover program, implementation strategy, monitoring and evaluation; (b) the results of the wide range analytical assessment and validation assessment conducted by the experts and practitioners indicate that the resulted model is appropriate and feasible to be applied in the development of ecotourism.
