Abstract
This research aims to discuss the effect of implementing cognitive load theory based-design in teaching simulation course on pedagogical knowledge and science content knowledge of pre-service biology teachers. The research focuses on 11 pre-service biology teachers in one public university in Bandung, Indonesia. By introduction, recitation, visualization, reflection and evaluation, the design of course activities have provided students with the experience of teaching and learning science. The research instruments included test, worksheets, a Likert 4-scale questionnaire and teachers' teaching journals. The research results show all of the students performed well in pedagogical knowledge and content knowledge with relatively low of extrinsic cognitive load.
