Abstract

Objectives: This study was undertaken to determine the correlation between the clinical assessment as determined by the Hemophilia Joint Health Score (HJHS) with the functional assessment determined by Functional Independent Score in Hemophilia the radiological changes in haemophilic arthropathy [HEAD-US]. Materials and methods: Of 12 children with 24 studied knee with haemophilia A, with a median age of 11,42 (SD 3,397) years (range: 10–17) were assessed using clinical examination (HJHS), functional assesment (FISH) and ultrasography examination using HEAD-US methods at RSUD. Dr. Soetomo Surabaya. Results: There was a significant inverse correlation between HJHS score with FISH score where the smaller HJHS score correlated with the bigger FISH score. The significance value between HJHS score with FISH score is 0.002 with strong correlation level. There was a significant positive correlation between the HJHS score with the HEAD-US score where the greater the HJHS score correlated with the larger HEAD-US score The significance value between the HJHS score with the HEAD-US score is 0.006 with a strong correlation rate. Conclusion: HJHS identify pathological changes in joints relatively to the functional assessment and radiological changes. However, further studies are required to be able to differentiate early abnormalities from normal. Clinical examination of the joints (HJHS), functional assessment (FISH) and radiological assessment (ultrasonography) provide complimentary information and should be considered conjointly in the assessment of early joint arthropathy
