Abstract

This study aimed to identify the approach of local wisdom conducted by the customary government in Tenganan Pegringsingan Manggis Sub-District, Karangasem Regency, Bali. The society in the customary village of Tenganan Pegringsingan is marginalized because of their ingrained ideology, the ancestral heritage which has been attached to them and inherited through their social system, politics, culture, and the religion they embrace. This research uses qualitative methods. The data required in this study was collected using several techniques such as face-to-face interviews with respondents; focus group discussion (FGD) aimed at exploring ideas, and identifying and formulating problems, which is also referred to as group interviewing; and in-depth interviews, documentation, and observation. Based on the research conducted by the author, the local wisdom approach in conflict resolution activities in Tenganan Pegringsingan traditional village government has always been used as a solution and really gets priority in addition to other sectors. The leaders or Kelihan adat of Tenganan Pegringsingan customary village have used awig-awig as local wisdom to resolve conflict since the 11th century.
