Abstract
Maternal Mortality Rate in Kediri Regency in 2012 was ranked third in East Java Province where there were 37 mothers died. This happens because of several factors that cause dangerous situations for pregnancy and childbirth. This research describes efforts to reduce maternal and infant mortality rate through Family Care Empowerment. The Family Care Empowerment implementation strategy has a family approach and cares for the family. This is conducted by participation, efficiency and partnership. In 2016, MMR and IMR decreased compared to 2012; from 37 and 257 to 16 and 167. Family Care Empowerment synergizes all cross-cutting and cross-program activities to support reduction efforts. The FCE stage is; report the newly discovered pregnant woman by sending the SMS gateway as soon as possible; managing reports of pregnant women well by the village midwife; case discussion about pregnant women in WhatsApp group; increased participation of all elements of society; patient monitoring is referred by the Health Office and Public Health Office. A new breakthrough in maternal and infant health, which initially only worries about pregnant women in the nuclear family, is the responsibility of surrounding communities and local officials who are committed to helping these pregnant women to deliver safely and appropriately
