Abstract
The optimal growth and development will inspire a gold generation for a nation. Thus, abnormalities of growth and development in early childhood should be prevented before golden period. Brains of children under five years old can still be converted by external and internal factors. Most children with growth and developmental delays are found from poor families so they do not get any special intervention. The aims of this study are to find problems of low coverage rate of early childhood development in primary health care facilities and solving problems through community diagnosis and community intervention: basic health workers and preschool teachers are trained about importance of early childhood development and early detection using group discussions and role plays. The research activities used in this study consisted of aspects of growth of nutritional status and development, namely a KPSP instrument. There has been an increase in knowledge and skills of health workers and preschool teachers since intervention, and increased knowledge and skills of health personnel and pre-school teachers are expected to improve program coverage. Counseling and training of health workers and preschool teachers in primary school care can increase coverage rate of early detection programs and interventions of childhood developmental disorders.
