Abstract

The complex health needs of patients require an integrated approach that encourages the collaboration of staff with respect and positive attitudes among themselves and patients. The collaborative strategic approach must consider the prevailing systems that work better by harnessing workplace experience and educational updates. In health services, the Interprofessional Education (IPE) and Compassionate care models are suggested strategies that would help to improve the quality of the expected health services. Its implementation has not been smooth due to a number of setbacks and in some contexts, compassion is not weighed according to the significant contribution it can make to qualify care through interpersonal relationships. In promoting awareness, this article, through a review of literature, explains the importance of compassion among health professionals, their clients and the general public; significance of prioritizing incorporations into training models (IPE) and curricula; the art power of dignity. Also important is the critical role it can play in fostering the unified spirit of putting patient centered care first and before professional drives that in one way or another hinder implementation of the IPE program from unknown fear, hence substantially contributing to lagged attainment of quality health and well-being for all.
