Abstract

Many parents regard that children’s playing produce wasting time and they are better to prepare to face adult life. Child’s growth initial detection is effectively able to identify 85 to 100% of babies and children who grow slowly. This research aimed to know the relationship between the parent’s knowledge about the children’s needs of playing with the growth of children aged 3 - 4 years at Kawisto Village Duduk Sampeyan District Gresik Regency. This research was an analytical research with Cross-Sectional design. The population taken were 32 respondents by using Simple Random Sampling. Data analysis used Spearman Rho. This research result showed that among 32 respondents, a half had adequate knowledge about the children’s needs of playing and most of them had suitable growth with their age (71,9%). Subsequently, it was undertaken by Spearman Rho – test which showed that there was a relationship between the parent’s knowledge about the children’s needs of playing and the growth of children which meant that there was a high correlation. Therefore, to increase the parent’s knowledge about the children’s needs of playing, it was needed to implement the counseling on the importance of sufficing it.
