Abstract
Enhancing patient experience and delivering patient-centered care are on the agenda of virtually every hospital nowadays. The objective of this study is to assess the patient-centered care implementation at Universitas Airlangga Hospital through national accreditation results. The methods in this research are semi-structured interviews, and these were conducted in Patient-Centered Standards of JCI to health professionals who worked at Universitas Airlangga Hospital. Patient-centeredness was assessed against the JCI standards. FGD results were submitted to the Head of the hospital in an effort to improve the quality of service. The results of identification found that most (96.52%) of the suggested improvements have already been implemented at the University Hospital. In FGD, discussions were held on the advantages and obstacles in the operational management of existing services at Airlangga University Hospital. A recommendation from the FGD result is that Airlangga University Hospital should remain an educational hospital and given the authority to be independent in operational management. From the research, we can conclude that most of the JCI standards for the patient center care component have already been implemented so that Airlangga University Hospital can immediately apply the elements that have not been implemented.
