Abstract
Due to an increasing demand for post-surgical rehabilitations, the need for e-rehabilitation is continuously rising. At this point, a continuous monitoring of vital parameters, such as the heart rate, could improve the efficiency assessment of training exercises by measuring a patient’s physical condition. This study proposes a robust method to remotely determine a person’s heart rate with an RGB camera. In this approach, we used an individual and situation depending skin colour determination in combination with an accurate tracking. Furthermore, our method was evaluated by means of twelve different scenarios with 117 videos. Altogether, the results show that this method performed accurately and robustly for e-rehabilitation applications.
