Transformation of the Beta Distribution for Color Transfer

Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel transformation between two Beta distributions. Our transformation progressively and accurately reshapes an input Beta distribution into a target Beta distribution using four intermediate statistical transformations. The key idea of this paper is to adopt the Beta distribution to model the discrete distributions of color and light in images. We design a new Beta transformation which we apply in the context of color transfer between images. Experiments have shown that our method obtains more natural and less saturated results than results of recent state-of-the-art color transfer methods. Moreover, our results portray better both the target color palette and the target contrast.
