Abstract
Around the world, a great interest has been developed in the study of vernacular architectures in the past decades in the sake of understanding the applicability of their features in modern sustainable construction. However, very few studies have been undertaken about African architecture especially the Sub-Saharan region. In this paper we intended to contribute to the knowledge of the African vernacular architecture by discussing the Kingdom of Bushi architecture. The features of this disappearing traditional architecture were analysed in the context of the kingdom’s cultural beliefs and the population life style for the sake of the protection of Bushi vernacular architecture and the revival of these major features in modern construction.
