Analysis of Critical Thinking Aspects in Students’ Essay

Abstract
Critical Thinking (CT) is an essential skill that helps human make every verdict and select a lot of information available. For students, their CT skill can be seen in their academic writing, especially in their essay assignments. However, their essays do not always indicate that they are in charge of their ideas and thinking because they used to pick up people's thought subconsciously. The study is intended to describe the CT aspects which appear in students' essay, and the students’ CT level shown in the students’ essay writing. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method. Data are obtained through the analysis of the essays using the University of Louisville's CT rubric. The results show that only two CT aspects that always appear in students' essays: claim and assumption.
