Abstract
This study analyze some factors that have driven Indonesian women migrant workers in Saudi Arabia to have an informal marriage (sirri marriage) and to examine the impacts of this kind of unofficial marriage in relation to legal, economic, social and psychological aspects of the lives of these women. The research demonstrates that some Indonesian women migrant workers in Saudi Arabia have conducted sirri marriage since many years ago. Result shows, the practice of sirri marriage, is not registered legally as an official marriage, has given birth to diverse problems, such as the existence of fake marriage certificate, the negligence of women’s rights, and the legal status of children born outside of legal marriage.
