Elizabeth Mestheneos, Ilenia Gheno
2019
Abstract
The rapidity of innovation in ICT/ AI generates issues on the role of older citizens in understanding, accessing and using these new technologies. Co-creation, system reliability, ethical issues such as social justice and inequalities, monitoring and data privacy, freedom and autonomy, safety, security and liberty, and the various dimensions of accessibility that need to be considered, need to be carefully considered by innovators and policy makers. Resources are being given to research and practices to support the health and well-being of older people but to be successful will need to include them.
