Focus groups (Morgan and Morgan, 1997) has
typical limitations of qualitative studies, mainly in the
generalization of results (Singer et al., 2008). We
counted on the cooperation of thirty-nine profession-
als who used DT for software development, which in-
fluenced the final results’ generalization. Even if the
generalization is not possible, these data are valid and
complemented with other studies.
In our future work, through empirical studies in
real case projects, we intend to explore in depth
the strategies of professionals’ decision-making pro-
cess for selecting DT techniques. We aim to dis-
cover if the decisions are empirical, intuitive, rational,
or heuristic-based, and to propose a computational
mechanism capable of supporting these decisions.
