Abstract
This paper presents the main aspects of the development of economic education in Russia, as well as the foreign higher education experience. The modern teaching practice in economic areas shows that the economist and manager, as profession, will not be needed in society in a few years. Business leaders want to see a specialist who has digital technologies knowledge, and is able to make competent and quick management decisions. Sustainable development requires an advanced model for training a comprehensively competent specialist for economic sectors in the shortest possible time. At the same time this specialst must highly quaified, for exapple, have a masters̀ degree.
