Abstract
Elasticity is an important feature to characterize cloud computing from traditional Information Technology (IT) infrastructure. It refers to the ability of the cloud provider to provision and release cloud resources, with demand, appearing to be infinite in any quantity at any time.In this paper, we propose a taxonomy which is an extended elasticity classifications compared to existing ones. Then, we discuss industrial and academic research on cloud elasticity to identify the main issues and drawbacks. Finally, we propose a synthesis of the studied works based on elasticity solutions’ characteristics provided from our taxonomy.
