Abstract

This article examines the role of small business development and private entrepreneurship in reducing poverty in Uzbekistan. Through a multifaceted analysis of statistical data, government initiatives, stakeholder interviews, and field observations, the study underscores the significant contributions of small businesses to economic growth, employment generation, and poverty reduction in the country. Findings indicate that small businesses have played a pivotal role in diversifying the economy, creating employment opportunities, and improving the living standards of individuals and communities. Government policies aimed at fostering an enabling environment for small business development have shown positive outcomes, although challenges such as access to finance and skills development persist. Looking ahead, sustained support for small business development and entrepreneurship, coupled with efforts to address remaining challenges, will be essential in maximizing the potential of small businesses to drive inclusive and sustainable development, ultimately contributing to the reduction of poverty across Uzbekistan.
