Abstract

The increasing demand for professionals in Business Process Management (BPM) highlights the need to align technical skills developed in education with market requirements, revealing a gap that requires investigating the essential content and skills for BPM education. This work aims to understand the content and skills addressed in BPM education, contributing substantially to understanding the current academic landscape of BPM. We conducted a systematic literature review to investigate the state of the art regarding BPM education. We also compared the content of the curriculum guidelines of the Brazilian Computing Society (SBC) and Business Process Management Common Body of Knowledge (BPM CBOK). In addition to providing a critical analysis of trends and gaps in the literature, this work offers insights that can be applied to enhance education in the field of BPM. The expectation is that the results obtained can inform the better training of professionals, aligning them effectively with the dynamic and specific market needs in terms of efficient BPM, thus promoting integration between theory and practice in the academic and professional context.
