UBIQUITOUS COMPUTING NEEDS UBIQUITOUS SOFTWARE - A General-Purpose Computation Model

Abstract
This article comments on the issues of integrating software components and runtime environments into embedded devices. The technologies that are used today to deliver applications to consumer devices range from CPU virtualisation to native API-based approaches. A new computing platform is identified in this article that has potential to provide a more technically convergence environment for embedded software integration. The approach simulatneously provides a light-weight hardware-independent application runtime environment that can operate close to the speed of native software.
