Abstract

This research concerns about the classroom action research in the academic year 2017 – 2018, involving undergraduate students who took the Topics in Combinatorial Mathematics II Course, one of the particular courses in the 8th term in Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science in Andalas University. In this research, we combine two learning methods, namely the Discovery Learning and Small Group Discussion to increase the ability of the students to understand the course material. By comparing the final grade in the academic year 2016 – 2017 and 2017 – 2018, we found that the combination of the methods is working successfully.
