Abstract
Authentic assessment has been recommended to use in teaching and learning of English based on Curriculum 2013 in Indonesian high schools. This is in line with the principle of the teaching and learning of English which is mainly activity-based. Authentic assessment is particularly used when high school teachers want to assess English speaking and writing skills of their students. This article presents part of the research which is to explore views and experiences of the students of Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru Prajabatan Bersubsidi [Subsidized Pre-Service Teacher Profession Education Program] at Universitas Khairun concerning the use of authentic assessment during their teaching practicum. This is qualitative research with a case study involving 11 students of 'Program Pendidikan Profesi Guru Prajabatan Bersubsidi [Subsidized Pre-service Teacher Profession Education Program] of English Language Education Study Program at Universitas Khairun. Semi-structured interviews were used to collect data from the respondents. The data obtained were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's thematic analysis. Findings from the data analysis were then discussed.
