Abstract
In this paper, we propose a method to identify and track only a specific player out of a number of players wearing the same jersey in the video sequence of a soccer broadcast to make a summary video focusing on the plays of the specific player. In a soccer broadcast, it is not easy to track a specific player because many players on both teams come and go and move across the field. Therefore, we devised a method to overcome this difficulty by combining multiple machine-learning techniques, such as deep neural networks. Our evaluation was conducted for nine players in three different positions and wearing three different color jerseys, and it is shown that although there is room for improvement on the recall, our proposed method can successfully track specific players with a precision of over 90%.
