Abstract

The gap between professional industry practices and academia represents a huge challenge in bringing best practices and silent knowledge from the industry to the students. Just as having a word-processor does not make you an author, knowing programming syntax does not make you a good programmer. In this paper I discuss how to transfer expert knowledge about PLC and real-time programming from the industry practitioners to the students. As a special case of interest, I investigate best practices for organising PLC programs.
